Join us to Stand Up For Art!

In these times of budget cuts to arts and culture programming on both the federal and state levels, ARCK is taking a stand. We are committed to using art as a vehicle to engage children in learning, because we see firsthand in the classrooms that art empowers and heals students.

At our ArtWeek Boston event, #StandUpForArt, we will be amplifying the voices of those who, like us, believe the arts and arts education are worth fighting for.

Check out our Facebook event for more details, and we hope to see you at #StandUpForArt!

  1. Arts matter to me because when I was in high school, I was able to participate in theatre and dance. These forms of art were formative experiences for me as an adolescent. I made true friendships that were founded upon identity expression and acceptance. Everyone was different and had their own unique stories, and theatre and dance were ways in which everyone could appreciate others' struggles and achievements. Without feeling accepted then, I'm not sure I'd be the person who I am today. I will always #StandUpforArt!

  2. The arts are a way to build bridges, foster understanding, encourage challenging conversations, and celebrate ideas. In a time where all these liberties are under threat, more than ever we need to immerse ourselves in ideas, possibilities, creativity, making art and building a more cultural enlightened civic sensibility in America.

  3. As an art educator, I have seen the power the arts play in the lives of my students. Art communicates thoughts, ideas, and feelings that cannot be expressed in any other way. The arts also bring together disparate ideas, allowing students to create connections and deepen understanding. Through study of the arts, students are connected across time and space to other cultures and people. Our world has become more connected than ever before. The arts can bridge cultural gaps, building understanding and bringing people together. Although our future is uncertain, we can help our young people prepare for the challenges of tomorrow by equipping them with a broad understanding of our world today.

  4. As a senior finishing up my four years of studying the fine arts in college as well as a previous short-term elementary school art teacher, being on both ends of arts education has been greatly impactful to my understanding of the necessity of art as a powerful medium through which many vital themes and concepts can be explored and developed.
